President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has stressed that stabbing and pulling fellow Filipinos to the ground has no place in his administration's recently launched Bagong Pilipinas.
In his YouTube vlog uploaded on Sunday, January 4, the President urged Filipinos to turn down their old ways and change themselves for the country.
"Sa isang Bagong Pilipinas, walang puwang ang paninira at paghahatakan pababa. Unahin natin ang ating bayan. Magbago tayo dahil walang Bagong Pilipinas kung walang Bagong Pilipino," he said.
Marcos did not specifically drop the names he was referring to, but he made the remark a week after the Duterte family, particularly former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte, attacked him in separate speeches during the prayer rally against Charter change.
The older Duterte has accused the president of being a "drug addict" who is included in the narcos list, while the younger Duterte called on the latter to resign due to his "laziness" and "lack of compassion" for his constituents.
Marcos hit back at the former president, saying that the latter's behavior was affected by the fentanyl drug which he has been using for "a very long time".
In the same vlog, Marcos vowed that government officials would do better in serving their people.
"Sa isang Bagong Pilipinas, lalo na pa natin pupukpukin na maging maayos ang ating mga lingkod bayan. Hindi lang ito ang mensahe ng Bagong Pilipinas, binibigyan dito ang kahalagahan ng maayos na trabaho mula sa amin, sa pamahalaan," he said.
Formally launched last January 28, the Bagong Pilipinas is the Marcos administration’s brand of governance and leadership.
