Palawan 1st District Rep. Edgardo 'Egay' Salvame has passed away on Wednesday, March 13.
Salvame's untimely passing was confirmed in a statement posted on his official Facebook page.
"Sa ngalan ng pamilya Salvame, malungkot po naming ibinabalita ang di-inaasahang paglisan sa kabilang buhay ng ating minamahal na Congressman, Manong Edgardo “Egay” Villagracia Lim Salvame, ngayong madaling-araw, ika-13 ng Marso," the Facebook admin said.
The cause of Salvame's death, however, was not disclosed.
Details about Salvame's burial will be announced on the same Facebook page.
"Hinihiling ng pamilya ang inyong mga panalangin para sa mapayapang pamamahinga ng kaluluwa ng ating minamahal na Congressman," it said.
House Speaker Martin Romualdez has extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members, friends, and constituents of Salvame.
"Cong. Egay was far more than just a fellow lawmaker; he was a true advocate for Palawan, a devoted public servant whose compassion and dedication resonated deeply with those he represented. His commitment, integrity, and ceaseless effort to advocate for his profoundly impacted all of us fortunate enough to have known and work with him," he said in a statement.
He described the Palawan congressman as "a trusted companion and a source of inspiration."
