Malacañang announced that work in government offices under the Executive branch will be suspended on September 23, starting at 3:00 p.m., in observance of the 32nd National Family Week.
This was formalized through Memorandum Circular No. 64, which was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin.
The suspension of work follows Proclamation No. 60 (s. 1992), which designates the last week of September as Family Week, and Proclamation No. 326 (s. 2012), which declares the fourth Monday of September as "Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga" Day. This initiative encourages Filipino families to spend quality time together, particularly over meals.
However, agencies involved in essential services, such as healthcare, disaster response, and other vital operations, will continue their duties to ensure that critical services remain available to the public.
Malacañang also urged other branches of government, independent commissions, and the private sector to support the celebration by providing their workers with the opportunity to participate in Family Week activities.
"This Office encourages all government workers in the Executive branch to fully support the programs and activities relative to the observance of Family Week, as organized by the National Committee on the Filipino Family," the memorandum stated.
