Shortly after its announcement of the list of 2024 holidays, netizens were quick to notice the non-inclusion of EDSA People Power Revolution, which is celebrated every February 25.
"The Office of the President maintains the respect for the commemoration of the EDSA People Power Revolution. However, such was not included in the list of special non-working days for the year 2024 as February 25 falls on a Sunday," the Malacañang said in a statement.
It added that "minimal socio-economic impact in declaring such day as a special non-working holiday since it coincides with the rest day for most workers/laborers."
Happened in 1985, the EDSA People Power Revolution mark the anniversary of a "People Power" uprising against late dictator Ferdinand Marcos - father of President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.
