Malacañang has urged Filipinos to reflect on the significance of Jesus Christ's sacrifice on Good Friday, as the country's Catholic-majority population commemorates His crucifixion and death.
The Presidential Communications Office called on the Catholic community to take some time to reflect on the importance of sacrifice and give thanks for the grace and mercy bestowed upon them by God.
"Good Friday is a day for our Catholic brothers and sisters to remember Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross," the PCO said in a statement.
"On this day, let us take some time to reflect on the importance of sacrifice and to give thanks for the grace and mercy that God has bestowed upon us," it added.
The observance of Holy Week in the Philippines, which remembers the events preceding the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, began on Palm Sunday, April 2, and will conclude on Easter Sunday, April 9.
