The Philippine National Police (PNP) monitored six cases of indiscriminate firing or illegal discharge of firearms since Dec. 22, its spokesperson Jean Fajardo said on Tuesday, Dec. 26.
Interviewed during DZRH Magandang Umaga Pilipinas, Fajardo said four of the six cases involved uniformed personnel from the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Fajardo noted that the four uniformed service personnel used the firearms for personal reasons and not because they were “trigger-happy."
One of the two PNPs involved reportedly had family problems that pushed him to fire shots outside his house.
Two individuals behind the remaining cases of indiscriminate firing have not yet been identified.
There have been no reports of stray bullet victims as of Dec. 25, according to the PNP spokesperson.
Despite the six indiscriminate firing cases, Fajardo remarked that the Christmas celebration was generally peaceful as there were no major untoward incidents recorded nationwide.
