PAGCOR to amend or terminate contract with auditing firm based on results of probe
by Kristan Carag27 January 2023

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) vowed to terminate or amend the contract with Global ComRCI depending on the results of the investigation on the third-party auditor.

PAGCOR chairman Alejandro Tengco said on Thursday, January 26, that he ordered a review of the 10-year contract with Global ComRCI as early as September.

The PAGCOR executive stressed that a government-owned and controlled corporation entered the contract with Global ComRCI in 2017 before he assumed office last August.

During a Senate hearing on Monday, January 23, Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian questioned the credibility of Global ComRCI, which PAGCOR tasked to assess the revenues of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators.

Gatchalian particularly flagged a bank certificate issued by a certain Soleil Chartered Bank that indicates that Global ComRCI meets the requirements to serve as a third-party auditor for PAGCOR.

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has confirmed that the Soleil Chartered Bank is not registered with the central bank, and is not authorized to operate in the country.
