The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) on Thursday refuted the allegations circulating on social media that it plagiarized its newly-launched logo.
In a statement, PAGCOR said denied that it copied the logo of the website called Tripper.
"The allegation made against PAGCOR is entirely false and driven by malicious intent. Through its operations, PAGCOR has consistently upheld the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability. The agency remains dedicated to fostering a safe and thriving gaming industry in the country," it stressed.
According to the gaming corporation, the Tripper website may be a "phishing site" as it demonstrated a lack of credibility.
PAGCOR then called on the public to remain vigilant and urged them to obtain information from credible sources only to combat the spread of misinformation and to avoid falling into scams.
PAGCOR said it will launch a probe into the main source of the "malicious" and "baseless" allegations that were thrown against them.
"PAGCOR remains dedicated to responsible gaming, regulation of the Philippine gaming industry and nation building," it furthered.
On July 12, PAGCOR unveiled its new logo to the public as part of its 40th-anniversary celebration.
Following the launch, many netizens questioned the design of the logo and claimed that this may be plagiarized as it also resembled the logos of popular food brand Lucky Me and oil company PETRON.
Some likewise raised their eyebrows due to the logo's expensive costs of ₱3,035,714.28, based on the procurement document posted on its website.
The Makabayan bloc lawmakers have recently filed a resolution directing a House panel to probe into the questionable procurement documents of PAGCOR's ₱3 million worth of logo.
