

Eight areas in the country might reach “danger” levels of heat index on Saturday, April 6, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The state weather bureau said Catarman, Northern Samar may reach 44 degrees Celsius (℃) whereas Tuguegarao City, Cagayan and Aborlan, Palawan may reach a heat index of 43℃.
Meanwhile, Dagupan City, Pangasinan, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Dumangas, Iloilo, and Cotabato City, Maguindanao may reach a heat index of 42℃.
According to PAGASA, the head index is “a measure of the contribution that high humidity makes with abnormally high temperatures in reducing the body's ability to cool itself.”
The state weather bureau noted that a dangerous level of heat index may reach 42 to 51℃. During this time, individuals can experience heat cramps and heat exhaustion while heat stroke is likely with continued exposure.
