PAGASA temporarily suspends heat index issuance
by Mary Antalan19 June 2024

The Philippine Atmospheric Geographical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced on Tuesday, June 18, that it is temporarily suspending the issuance of the heat index.

According to PAGASA, the suspension was made following the continuous decline in the number of areas under the heat index danger level category.

"Frequent rain showers and thunderstorms experienced in many areas, and the demise of El Niño conditions, our daily issuance of heat index information is temporarily suspended starting today (18 June 2024)."

PAGASA said it will focus on accurate and timely information, such as rainy season-related forecasts.

The weather bureau said it will resume the issuance index on March 1, 2025.

Meanwhile, heat indices derived from the PAGASA automated weather stations can still be accessed at the PAGASA website Heat Index page.

"The public is advised to stay informed through official announcements from the relevant local authorities and take necessary precautions to ensure your safety and well-being," said PAGASA1.
