The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) detected a new low-pressure area (LPA) located outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday.

This weather system has the potential to intensify into a tropical depression or a weak storm within the next two to four days.

According to Pagasa, the LPA was identified approximately 2,235 kilometers east of Southeastern Mindanao, and there is a possibility that it could enter the PAR by the middle or end of next week.

"Sa ngayon, hindi natin inaalis 'yung possibility na sa mga susunod na mga araw [ay] magiging bagyo ito at maaari rin itong pumasok ng ating Philippine Area of Responsibility. Ngunit posible itong mangyari sa susunod pang linggo," Pagasa's Weather Specialist, Patrick Del Mundo, reported.

As for the current weather conditions, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is affecting Mindanao, resulting in cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and BARMM areas.

Moderate to heavy rains in these areas may lead to possible flash floods or landslides.

For Metro Manila and the rest of the country, expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the ITCZ and localized thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, there is a risk of flash floods or landslides.

The wind conditions across Luzon and Visayas are forecasted to be light to moderate, blowing from the southwest to south.

Coastal waters are expected to be slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters. In Mindanao, winds will be light to moderate, coming from the southwest, and coastal waters will also be slight to moderate.
