There may be one to no typhoons entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) for February, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Thursday.

In its recent bulletin, the state weather bureau said that even if a typhoon did enter the PAR, no landfall scenarios are expected to occur. It noted that while a low-pressure area (LPA) is also under observation near Mindanao, the chances of this developing into a typhoon were low.

Earlier, PAGASA said the wrath of the ongoing El Niño phenomenon will peak this month with Metro Manila possibly experiencing a dry spell or drought as early as February or March.
