The state weather bureau on Monday reported that it is monitoring two low-pressure areas (LPA) inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

In a public briefing, PAGASA weather forecaster Obet Badrina said the first LPA was last located 875 kilometers (km) east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon, inside PAR.

Meanwhile, the other LPA was spotted 1,960 km east northeast of Eastern Visayas, outside PAR.

While the chances that the two LPAs will develop into typhoons are low, Badrina said the second LPA is slightly enhancing the southwest monsoon or habagat and is affecting Mindanao.

"Kaya inaasahan natin na magiging maulap ang kalangitan na may malaking tyansa na mga pag-ulan, partikular na sa Zamboanga Peninsula," he noted.

The trough of the first LPA will also bring cloudy skies and occasional rains, particularly in Batanes and Babuyan Island.

The PAGASA weather forecaster said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience warm weather in the afternoon while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the evening until midnight.
