Cloudy skies, rain showers, and thunderstorms will affect various parts of the country on Wednesday, July 12, due to the Low Pressure Area (LPA), southwest monsoon, or habagat, and localized thunderstorms, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geographical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The LPA appeared to be 510 kilometers east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, around three in the morning.

Meanwhile, the western regions of Visayas and Mindanao will be affected by the southwest monsoon.

Due to the LPA and southwest monsoon, the skies in the Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, and Quezon will be cloudy with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

The weather agency said these places may experience flash floods or landslides as a result of moderate to occasionally severe rains.

The southwest monsoon will bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, partly cloudy to cloudy skies, and localized thunderstorms with the potential for flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms for the rest of the country and Metro Manila.

Winds will be light to moderate in strength and will be blowing from the west to the southwest over Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao. Coastal waters will be light to moderate.

The rest of Luzon will see light to moderate winds out of the northeast to northwest, with light to moderate waters along the coast.
