The Philippines will participate in the 2024 'Pitch Black' military exercises in Australia.
The Philippine Air Force (PAF) announced that the first batch of the country's contingent, , along with essential equipment and operational cargo, arrived on Sunday, July 7, in Darwin, Australia.
PAF said that the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) KC-30 aircraft ferried the Philippine contingent, while the RAAF C-130 and PAF C-295 aircraft transported the crucial equipment and operational cargo.
"The main contingent will fly to Darwin a few days from now, prior to the official start of the exercise," PAF said in a statement.
PAF said that 20 nations, including the Philippines, will participate in the exercises that will begin on Friday, July 12, and end on August 2.
PAF mentioned that the exercises will incorporate a wide range of tactical flying and large-scale operational collective training activities.
"The exercise will emphasize Offensive Counter Air and Air Interdiction operations in a multi-national coalition environment," PAF said.
"A notable highlight of this year’s exercise is the participation of PAF FA-50 fighter jet elements. This marks the first time the Philippines will deploy air assets to participate in an international exercise outside of the country, making it a monumental event in the history of the Philippine Air Force," PAF added.
PAF considers their participation in the exercises a pivotal opportunity to enhance the operational capabilities, strengthen international partnerships, and reinforce the commitment to regional security and stability of the Phillippines.
"Our involvement in this exercise is crucial to advancing our readiness, interoperability, and professionalism as an air force," PAF stressed.
