Senator Robin Padilla on Monday confirmed that he will still pursue amendments in the provisions under the 1987 Philippines Constitution this second regular session, but this time he will be pushing for political reform.

"Oo, politikal reforms naman," Padilla confirmed when asked by reporters if he will push charter change or cha-cha.

Before Senate adjourned in May, the Senator pronounced that his proposed amendment in the economic provisions received no support from Senators, except his political allies in the Partido Demokratikong Pilipino -Laban (PDP-Laban), namely Senators Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa, Francis ‘Tol’ Tolentino, and Lawrence Christopher ‘Bong’ Go.

He also earlier said that his proposal was set aside due to discussions on Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF) Act and Public Services Act.

In explaining why he will attempt to push forward political cha-cha this second session, Padilla said the public need to grasp why political reform should be made.

He particularly mentioned that he wanted to amend the terms of office of local and national officials, including the President and Vice president.

"At saka matagal na rin naman hinihingi 'yan ng ating local officials na ang kanilang three years ay maging four years para talaga may magawa po sila," Padilla noted.

But the Senator said he is still praying for economic amendments.
