Jullebee Ranara, the overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was murdered in Kuwait, will be laid to rest on Sunday, February 3.
In an interview with the media, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Secretary Arnell Ignacio said Ranara would be buried on Golden Haven in Las Piñas City.
"Ang kanilang pamilya ay nabigyan natin na hinihiling nilang privacy, naibigay naman natin iyan. Sabi nila sa akin, para na rin malagay siya sa ikatatahimik at para rin sila rin ay makapagsimula na rin, they decided that Sunday would be the day na siya ay ilibining," he said.
Meanwhile, Ignacio clarified that the family never accepted any "blood money."
"Kahit isang beses kami nag-usap, walang sinabi tungkol sa pera. Never. Ito talaga itataga ko sa bato," he said.
"Not one member of the family, kahit kelan nag-attempt na bumulong na pahingi nito. Wala. Umiiyak sila dahil nawalan sila ng mahal sa buhay. Ano lang hiningi? Privacy. Pahingi ng hustisya. Not once, humingi ito ng kahit ano. Pamasahe, mga ganiyan? Never," Ignacio added.
The OWWA Administrator said they have already provided the family a burial assistance, Php 800,000 insurance, and a scholarship for Ranara's children.
The 35-year-old domestic helper was reportedly found dead in the middle of the desert in Kuwait on January 22.
Kuwait authorities have arrested the alleged suspect who turned out to be the 17-year-old son of Ranara's employer.
