The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has placed its Crisis Communication and Monitoring Team on high alert at the newly established Crisis Communication Center in its Central Office.
This is in response to President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s directive to prioritize ongoing rescue and relief operations for the four overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) reported missing in Myanmar.
A powerful magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Myanmar and parts of Thailand on March 28, 2025, causing widespread concern for the safety of Filipinos in the affected areas.
OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio assured the public that the agency is prepared to extend full assistance and support to the missing OFWs and their families in the Philippines.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), OWWA, and Philippine embassies in affected areas are working closely together to deliver aid, information, and support to Filipinos impacted by the disaster.
OWWA is also encouraging those in need of immediate assistance to contact the embassy or OWWA hotlines to ensure that their concerns are addressed without delay.
"Sa mga nangangailangan ng agarang tulong, hinihikayat kayong makipag-ugnayan sa mga hotline ng Embahada o OWWA. Sama-sama po nating tinututukan ang sitwasyon para sa kapakanan ng bawat OFW," the OWWA said.
