The Overseas Worker Welfare Administration (OWWA) has issued a public warning against a scammer posing as a member of the agency and promising to process repatriations and other transactions for a fee.
On Monday, the OWWA revealed that an individual identified as Darwin Lastimosa, who has impersonated a “customer service team leader” for the agency’s operation department, is a con artist.
In a post on their official Facebook page, OWWA clarified that Lastimosa's ID and certification are fake documents.
“The public is advised that Darwin Lastimosa is not in any way connected with OWWA or its regional welfare offices. He is not authorized to process requests for repatriation or to make inappropriate representations in the name of OWWA for a fee,” the agency declared.
OWWA said it would never certify anyone to seek fees in exchange for its programs and services.
The welfare agency has called on Lastimosa’s victims to contact their legal office.
