The Philippine National Police (PNP) has successfully frozen over $205,000 worth of suspected ransom money linked to the recent kidnapping and killing of a Chinese businessman in Meycauayan, Bulacan.
Steel executive Anson Que and his driver were abducted on March 29 and later found dead, despite the family reportedly paying nearly ₱200 million in ransom through multiple cryptocurrency transactions.
According to a report by Edniel Parrosa, PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo confirmed that the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) intercepted the transfer of cryptocurrency traced to two accounts allegedly used to funnel the ransom payment.
The funds, according to investigators, came from money originally coursed through casino junket operators 9Dynasty and White Horse Club—both now under scrutiny for their alleged role in the high-profile abduction case.
Authorities revealed that at least six casinos have already shut down their junket operations following the discovery of their connection to the multimillion-peso kidnapping scheme.
