The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) provided the latest updates on the ongoing recovery operations in Bataan, announcing that more than 806,000 liters of oily waste were collected by the Harbor Star from August 19 to 28, 2024.
The PCG shared a detailed breakdown of the collected oily waste over the specified dates:

- 20 Aug - 36,100 liters
- 21 Aug - 42,026 liters
- 22 Aug - 81,136 liters
- 23 Aug - 17,103 liters
- 24 Aug - 121,724 liters
- 25 Aug - 101,603 liters
- 26 Aug - 104,202 liters
- 27 Aug - 67,871 liters
- 28 Aug - 232,187 liters
PCG collected the highest amount of oily waste on Wednesday, August 28, with 232,187 liters. From August 19 to 28, they siphoned a total of 806,254 liters of oily waste.
Moreover, the rate of oily waste flow during the operations on Wednesday was 24,614 liters per hour. Pumps and hoses were also inspected during the operations for any signs of leakage.
No leaks were observed during the underwater survey. Oil samples were also collected by Coast Guard personnel for analysis. Meanwhile, the BRP Sandingan (MRRV-4407) monitored the siphoning operation and used the water cannon to agitate minimal oil sheen at ground zero.
Updates on the MTRK Jason Bradley and MV Mirola 1 were also shared by the PCG. FES Challenger continued the re-sealing and patching operations of the vessel’s manhole and air vents. The Oil Spill Response Team (OSRT) also patrolled the coastline near the sunken vessel.
MV Mirola 1 was moored at the Diving Industry Shipyard in Barangay Alas-asin in Mariveles, Bataan.
