Over 2,000 from three barangays in Norzagaray, Bulacan have evacuated from their homes due to flooding caused by the water released from Angat, Bustos, and Ipo Dams since Friday because of the continuous rain.
The residents from Barangays Matictic, San Mateo, and Poblacion reached 2,000 including a total of 806 children who were brought to evacuation centers, said municipal government information officer, Grace Osido.
According to Osido, the provincial public affairs office continues to collate the total number of displaced residents.
Moreover, cottages at a resort in the town were destroyed by the floodwaters.
On January 7, Angat and Bustos Dams are still releasing water.
The Chief of the water control and coordinating unit of Bustos Dam, Francisco Clara, mentioned that the water level in the dam was 17.37 meters.
He added that the dam released 1,162.69 cubic meters per second to the downstream river system.
The water being discharged from Angat, Ipo, and Bustos Dams will pass through the river system in San Rafael, Plaridel, Pulilan, Calumpit, and Hagonoy, before it goes to Manila Bay.
Meanwhile, the water level in Angat Dam was at 214.80 meters more than two meters above the normal high level, said the provincial disaster risk reduction and management office.
Ipo and Bustos Dams' water levels went beyond the spilling levels of 101 meters and 17 meters, respectively.
