The Philippine National Police (PNP) has deployed 40,283 personnel across the country to ensure public safety and order during the observance of Holy Week.
The report by RH Edniel Parrosa stated that the deployment coincides with a heightened alert status, which will continue through June or until the election period concludes.
PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo noted that police officers have been stationed at transportation hubs, major roads, tourist destinations, and churches.
Included in the deployment are approximately 800 members of the Police Highway Patrol Group (HPG) tasked with manning checkpoints and monitoring areas classified as incident hotspots.
With the heightened alert in place, 75 percent of the Philippine National Police's personnel are scheduled for deployment. A 'no leave' policy has also been implemented, with exceptions only for emergencies.
