Nearly a week after the magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck Cebu last September 30, 30,452 households across six towns remain without electricity, according to the latest update from the National Electrification Administration (NEA).

The affected areas include Bogo City, Borbon, Daanbantayan, San Remigio, Tabuelan, and Tabogon, where power restoration efforts are still ongoing.

Meanwhile, seven towns have already been fully reconnected to the grid --Carmen, Catmon, Compostela, Danao City, Medellin, Sogod, and Tuburan, after power distribution was normalized in their areas.

The Cebu II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CEBECO II) said its line personnel continue to work round-the-clock to restore electricity in the remaining affected communities, many of which sustained heavy infrastructure damage during the quake.

According to data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), 71 people are reported dead, 559 injured, and affected 128,464 families across the province.

Authorities have assured residents that full power restoration remains a top priority as clearing operations and infrastructure assessments continue across the worst-hit areas.
