The Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to deploy more than 14,000 officers nationwide to ensure security during the upcoming holiday season.
Included in the deployment are over 8,000 police officers who will be assigned to the National Capital Region (NCR).
According to PBGen. Jean Fajardo, PNP spokesperson, the police force has not detected any major or critical threats related to the approaching Christmas celebrations.
In a report by RH Edniel Parrosa, it was noted that following Christmas, the 56th anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) – New People’s Army (NPA) will take place, an occasion that the security sector monitors every year.
The PNP’s no-leave policy for its personnel nationwide will also be enforced starting December 15 for the holidays.
After the Christmas season, the election period will begin on January 12.
