

More than 1,000 women from various progressive groups staged a rally in Manila today, the commemoration of International Women's Day.
According to RH Boy Gonzales' report, members of Pagkakaisa ng Kababaihan para sa Kalayaan (KAISA KA) and Liga ng mga Organisasyon ng Kababaihang Nagkakaisa (LORENA-KAISA KA) were among those who marched from Recto to Morayta.

They reportedly called for continued rights in society for women amidst poverty, hunger, and war.
The women also aired their opposition against Charter change or the amendment of the Philippine 1987 Constitution.
Some held a banner that says, "Agenda ng kababaihan, hindi Cha-cha ng iilan" and a placard that conveys, "Lupa, hindi Cha-cha."
Joining the KAISA KA and LORENA-KAISA KA in the protest were groups Oriang Women's Movement, Gabriela Women's Party, and Partido Lakas ng Masa.
As per Gonzales, protestors failed to advance to Mendiola after they were blocked by Anti-Riot Pulis.

Some groups reportedly held a simultaneously protest in España, Manila in front of the University of Santo Tomas wherein they danced to "Cha cha" song.
