A lawmaker said that other witnesses can prove former PCSO Chief Royina Garma's statement regarding the Duterte administration's extra-judicial killings but have refused to testify.
In an interview on Dos Por Dos on Monday, Second District Congressman Romeo Acop stated that one of the challenges faced by the House of Representatives' Quad Committee is convincing other witnesses to testify and corroborate Garma's claim.
Last Friday, during the Quad Committee’s hearing into the probe of Former President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs, Garma claimed that the national scale of the drug war was modeled after Davao City's approach.
Garma also alleged that there was a reward system based on the "level" of the arrest and/or killing.
Acop noted that the Quad Committee is still in the process of verifying Garma’s claims, as they have yet to invite the individuals mentioned by Garma.
Meanwhile, Acop remains unconvinced that Royina Garma has fully disclosed the truth.
As a former investigator, Acop said Garma "hasn't come out clean."
Acop mentioned that the next hearing is scheduled for October 24.
