Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro declared a state of calamity due to "severe and prolonged drought," an effect of El Niño to the municipality.

The Sangguniang Bayan of Mansalay said that all members unanimously approved Resolution No. 2024- 548 during a special session on Thursday, March 7.

"The Council concurrence makes the declaration of a state of calamity in the Municipality of Mansalay, operational," the the municipal council said in a Facebook post.

The state of calamity declaration will allow the local government of Mansalay to use the 30 percent quick response fund of the municipality.
