Traffic violators in Manila can now pay their fines online, Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan announced on Friday.
Motorists need to first create an online account on the portal before paying penalties online, according to Lacuna-Pangan.
Following the creation of an online account, motorists should proceed to the payment of ordinance violation receipt (OVR) option located on the website or application.
They must upload clear images of their identification card and the OVR that was supplied to them.
She said that they could check the status of their payment on the Go Manila website or apps.
Lacuna-Pangan stated that erring motorists must pay their fines within 10 days of their arrest, or their records will be sent to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to be identified as non-paying violators.
She also stated that, while the local government cannot now seize a driver's license after every apprehension, drivers who regularly violate traffic laws and fail to pay penalties risk having their license confiscated or revoked.
The Metro Manila Traffic Code was developed by the Metro Manila Council, the policy-making body of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
Meanwhile, the program established a single ticketing system that specifies a uniform set of punishments for the top 20 traffic offenses committed by vehicles throughout Metro Manila.
The system is supposed to allow violators to pay the fee online or in person at the MMDA, LTO, or local government agency that issued the ticket.
Traffic violators can visit www.gomanila.com or download the Go Manila mobile app, she stated during a Facebook Live broadcast posted by the city's Public Information Office.
