Former DZRH anchor and online health personality, Dr. Gary Sy filed a formal complaint on Tuesday, June 3 with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Cybercrime Division against individuals behind fake social media advertisements and AI-generated content using his name, videos, and images without his consent.
“I filed this morning a complaint at the NBI Cybercrime Division regarding rampant fake Facebook accounts and fake ads using my name, photos, and videos,” Dr. Sy announced via his official Facebook page.
Sy is urging the NBI to investigate, identify, and arrest those responsible for deceptive online promotions, marketing schemes, and unauthorized product sales falsely linked to him.
He also requested the takedown of various fraudulent websites that he claims have already victimized numerous individuals.
Among the charges filed are estafa, falsification, identity theft, computer-related fraud, and violations of the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
Sy’s complaint stemmed from the overwhelming number of phone calls his clinic received over the past twelve months from his patients and other individuals.
According to him, many of the callers reported that they never received the products they had ordered online—items falsely promoted and sold under his name.
He emphasized that the unauthorized use of his identity has severely damaged his reputation, undermined his advocacy for integrated health and wellness, and, most importantly, eroded the trust of the public that he has worked hard to build over the years.
