

One suspect died and two others wounded and under hospital arrest after a police officer thwarted a robbery attempt that led to an armed encounter in Zone 3, Barangay Care, Tarlac City, on Tuesday morning, April 22.
According to the Tarlac City Police Station, the off-duty police officer, who also happened to be the victim, noticed suspicious individuals inside his property loading his fighting cocks onto a tricycle.
Upon confronting them, one of the suspects started shooting, which caused the officer to retreat to his house to retrieve his firearm and shoot back.
The suspects attempted to flee on a tricycle with the stolen fighting cocks, but the officer keep on chasing them.
The confrontation continued until they reached Aquino Boulevard in Barangay Carangian, where another exchange of gunfire occurred.
The suspect that was shot and killed was later identified as Ormoc Salvatierra y MNU.
Two others, Apolonio Marzo y Dictado, 32, and Jerson Salvatierra y Cubalongon, 22, were injured and brought to the Tarlac Provincial Hospital under police custody.
Authorities recovered a caliber 38 revolver and eleven fighting cocks with an estimated value of PHP 132,000 from the suspects.
