Days prior the opening of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France, Filipina gymnast Levi Ruvivar suffered a severe allergic reaction, and needed to receive medical treatment.

Revivar, one of the 22 Filipino athletes competing in the Paris Games, shared that the incident happened last Monday, July 22.

"This Monday I was taking an evening walk when I began to have an anaphylactic reaction," Ruvivar said on Friday, July 26, in an Instagram post.

"I didn’t ingest tree nuts (to which I am allergic) or suffer from a bug bite, but for some reason I suffered from a severe allergic reaction," she added.

Revivar sought help from fellow Filipina gymnast and Olympic bet Aleah Finnegan to find the medical hospital in the Olympic Village in Paris, where the Olympians have been staying.

"On the way to the treatment center my allergy symptoms escalated rapidly and my breathing became significantly labored, my throat began to constrict, my chest was itching, and I had severe swelling," the gymnast divulged.

"It got to the point where I needed to use my EpiPen and I self-injected it on the way to the clinic," she added.

Rvvivar assured that she recovered from the incident, and will still compete in the women's gymnastics event, which will kick-off on Saturday, July 28.

"My muscles are fatigued and it definitely took a toll on my body, but I am doing everything I can to recovery and perform at my best possible level," Ruvivar guaranteed.

The Paris Games formally opened on Friday night with a parade of the athletes in River Seine, and the lighting of the Olympic cauldron.
