Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel Bonoan expressed his openness to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s proposal to conduct lifestyle checks on DPWH officials, as part of efforts to strengthen accountability within the agency.
“Okay naman po. I think open naman kami sa panukala ng ating presidente na mag-lifestyle check sa mga opisyal ng DPWH. Open na open naman kami. Okay lang po [na pangunahan ko],” Bonoan said in an interview in DZRHs Dos Por Dos.
Bonoan also denied that he owns luxury cars, however, an alleged District Engineer was being seen using a sports car going to the office.
The statement comes as the DPWH faces mounting public scrutiny over alleged irregularities in infrastructure projects, particularly the controversial flood control programs flagged for possible corruption.
Malacañang earlier announced that all concerned government agencies will undergo screening, with priority on those linked to the anomalous flood control projects across the country.
