Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) have been given the opportunity to take part in the Philippines’ very first internet voting.

In a report by RH 12 Milky Rigonan, Tingog Partylist Rep. Jude Acidre, Chair of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs, encouraged OFWs to take advantage of this newly-introduced voting method ahead of the midterm elections.

The new system for casting votes was proposed in recognition of OFWs’ contributions to the country, and to make voting more accessible to them, Acidre said. In this way, their voices may be heard along with the rest of the nation’s.

According to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the pre-voting enrollment period for overseas internet voting begins on March 10 and ends on May 7, 2025. Online voting is from April 13 until 7 PM of May 12, 2025.
