A total of 19 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) based in Lebanon have safely returned to the Philippines, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said on Sunday, Dec. 3.
In a statement posted on its Faceook page, DMW said the OFWs arrived at NAIA Terminal 3 in Pasay City via Qatar Airways flight QR934 at 7:46 a.m.
It said that the OFWs chose to return home due to "the escalating tension between Israel and the militant group Hezbollah, a Lebanon-based group sympathetic to Hamas."
"Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Officer-in-Charge Hans Leo J. Cacdac personally assisted the OFWs and assured them of all the necessary assistance and other forms of support from the government," the DMW said.
According to the agency, "this batch brings a total of 61 OFWs who have come back to the Philippines from Lebanon."
