Jenny Alvarado, the Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who allegedly died due to smoke inhalation in Kuwait, was laid to rest on Sunday, January 26, in Rodriguez, Rizal.

"Inilibing na ang nasawi nating kababayan na si OFW Jenny Alvarado ngayong umaga, Enero 26," the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said in a Facebook post.

"Kaisa ang Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) at ang Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) sa pagbibigay ng tulong sa pamilyang naulila ni OFW Jenny," it added.

Alvarado, together with her two coworkers, reportedly died at a vacation house belonging to their employer after allegedly inhaling smoke from a heating system, which caused the tragic incident.

DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac previously said that the agency is looking at the possibility that foul play could have led to the death of Alvarado.

Cacdac disclosed that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is conducting an autopsy on Alvarado’s remains, which arrived in the country on the evening of Thursday, January 16.

The delay in the arrival was due to a mix-up with another cadaver that was mistakenly delivered to the Philippines. Instead of Alvarado’s remains, a Nigerian national—allegedly her coworker in Kuwait who also died in the incident—was mistakenly sent to her family.

Cacdac apologized for the error and assured that the agency will investigate how the service provider failed to correctly identify the remains before sending them to the country.

"Service provider tinanggap yung labi doon sa Criminal Investigation Division ng Kuwaiti side at may identification doon, so lumalabas na mali sa pagtukoy ng labi at pangalawa 'yung pagship na hindi natukoy ng maigi. Hindi nakita ng maigi ang labi lalo na sa side natin," said Cacdac.

Meanwhile, the cadaver of Alvarado's Nepali co-worker has already been sent back to Kuwait.
