An overseas Filipina worker (OFW) seeks immediate repatriation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia due to the maltreatment that she receives from her employers.
"Wala akong sapat na pagkain dito at wala akong pahinga," Daisy Cardenas, a Filipina domestic helper in Saudia Arabia, said on Tuesday, June 20, during DZRH's Damdaming Bayan.
"4:00AM na ako nagigising, diretso trabaho na, walang pagkain hanggang tanghali. Sa gabi, kung hindi nila ako bibigyan ng pagkain, hindi na ako," Cardenas added.
Cardenas shared that she already experienced scavenging through the garbage of her employer and eating expired food because of hunger.
"Minsan kapag hindi nila ako binibigyan at gutom na gutom na ako, namumulot n lang ako sa basura nila," she admitted.
Cardenas said that she already asked for help from her recruitment agency only to face indifference.
"Sinabihan nila ako na sana hindi na lang ako nag-DH (domestic helper) para hindi ko na dinadanasan ang lahat ng ito," Cardenas revealed.
The OFW also filed a complaint with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) but her employers and recruitment threatened not to release her salary.
Cardenas said that the blackmail forced her to withdraw her complaint.
"Sana makauwi na ako kasi hindi ko na kaya na magtrabaho dito dahil ang laki ng bahay nila," stressed Cardenas who admitted that she even considered taking her life due to her troubles.
Cardenas said that her employers have also seized her passport.
