Officials of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) visited the wake of the slain domestic helper Jullebee Cabilis Ranara.
The wake of Ranara started on Sunday, January 29, at her home in Casimiro, Las Pinas City.
DMW Secretary Susan ‘Toots’ Ople expressed grief over Ranara’s death as she visited her wake.
“I grieve for you. Justice will prevail. #Justice4Jullebee God bless you, Jullebee," she wrote in a Twitter post.
OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio also visited and extended sympathies to the family of Ranara.
“Hindi namin kayo pababayaan,” he said in a Facebook post.
According to the OWWA chief, the family of Ranara has asked for privacy, and only government officials and her relatives are allowed to enter.
On Sunday, January 22, Ranara was found dead in the middle of a desert in Kuwait.
The alleged suspect, identified as the 17-year-old son of her employer, was arrested by authorities.
The remains of the 35-year-old slain domestic helper arrived on Friday night at the cargo warehouse of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
The DMW earlier imposed a preventive suspension and blacklisted Ranara’s foreign employer.
The local agencies that deployed Ranara will also be facing charges and sanctions.
