The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) confirmed that one of the named security officers allegedly involved in handling confidential funds under Vice President Sara Duterte's leadership remains active in service.

AFP Public Affairs Office Chief Col. Xerxes Trinidad stated that Lt. Col. Dennis Nolasco, alleged to have insight into the allocation of the said funds within the Department of Education, is still an active member of the AFP.

Lt. Col. Nolasco was previously assigned to the Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG) but is now reportedly undergoing 'schooling.'

During the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability hearing yesterday, DepEd Special Disbursing Officer (SDO) Edward Fajarda disclosed that he handed over the confidential funds directly to Lt. Col. Nolasco.

Meanwhile, in the Office of the Vice President, which also manages its own confidential funds, SDO Gina Acosta identified another military officer as the recipient of the confidential funds—Col. Raymund Lachica, who currently serves as the head of the Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group.
