Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena won a bronze medal on Tuesday, June 6, in the Irena Szewinska Memorial tournament in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

Obiena cleared 5.72 meters in his first attempt to place third in the men's pole vault event of the sports meet.

American pole vaulter Chris Nilsen topped the event after clearing 5.92 meters while hometown bet Piotr Lisek cleared 5.82 meters to grab the silver medal.

Obiena also attempted to clear 5.82 meters but failed in all of his three attempts.
