Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena expressed anger and disappointment on social media on Sunday, October 15, after a netizen alleged that he takes performance-enhancement drugs.
In a Facebook post, Obiena said that his camp will study taking legal actions against the netizen.
"I want to remain classy and dignified on this subject. All I will say is I am disappointed, angry, and feel wronged by these statements," the Asian record holder said.
"I will let the story evolve while my team explores the many angles including legal. I guess this is part of the price you pay when you win," he added.
Reports identified the netizen as Anais Lavillenie, the wife of French pole vaulter and 2012 Olympic Gold medalist Renaud Lavillenie.
Anais made the allegations in a comment on the Facebook page of Vaulter Magazine - Vaulter Club Inc. and even mentioned Brazilian pole vaulter Thiago Braz. who failed a doping test last July.
Both Obiena and Braz train under Coach Vitaly Petrov.
The Athletics Integrity Unit placed Braz under provisional suspension for testing positive for ostarine glucuronide, a prohibited substance.
"Obiena doped and it'll fall like Braz. Same coach, same plan, same objective," the comment of Anais read.
The allegations came after Obiena dominated the men's pole vault tournament in the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China.
