The National Water Resources Board (NWRB) on Wednesday announced that it will suspend the water allocated for irrigation on May 10.
In a television interview, NWRB Executive Director Sevillo David said the suspension was made to prepare for the next cropping season in June.
He noted that the suspension of the water allocation would not severely affect farmers as their harvest activities are near to end.
According to the NWRB Executive Director, they will be reducing the water allocation for irrigation, from 30 cubic meters per second to 10 cubic meters per second.
David also said that they are studying the adjustments for the next cropping season amid the threat of El Niño season.
