The Denver Nuggets book their first appearance in the 2023 NBA Finals.
The Nuggets completed a sweep of the 2023 NBA Western Conference Finals series by defeating the Los Angeles Lakers, 113-111, in Game Four.
Two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic also made history and recorded his eighth triple-double in the playoffs after finishing with 30 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 assists for Denver.
Jokic now holds the record for most triple-doubles in a single postseason, beating NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain.
Jamal Murray also chipped in 25 points and Aaron Gordon added 22 points for the Nuggets that entered the third quarter with a 15-point deficit, 73-58, after a 31-point rampage by Lebron James during the first half.
Denver managed to take the lead, 83-81, following a three-point play by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
A basket by Anthony Davis allowed the Lakers to tie the game, 83-all, but Michael Porter Jr. responded with a three-pointer to bring the lead back to the Nuggets.
With less than two minutes left in the game, Davis buried four straight free throws to put the game in another deadlock, 111-all, but Jokic, who already received his fifth foul, drove to the basket to put Denver up by two.
James tried to keep Los Angeles alive in the series and bring the game to overtime but Murray and Gordon thwarted the attempt of the Four-time NBA Most Valuable Player.
James registered 40 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists while Davis finished 21 points and 14 rebounds to pace the Lakers.
