A New People's Army (NPA) commander wanted for murder and attempted murder was apprehended in Surigao del Sur on Friday, according to a top police official.
Brig. Gen. Pablo Labra II, director of the Police Regional Office 13 (Caraga), identified the arrested suspect as Bernelito S. Crido, a platoon leader with the NPA Guerrilla Front 19B, in a statement.
Crido, 35, is wanted on three separate murder and attempted murder warrants.
Labra stated that he was apprehended by police operatives in Barangay Payasan, Lianga town, on Wednesday evening.
He also stated that the suspect faces additional charges for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition after a loaded.45-caliber pistol was discovered in his possession.
He claimed Crido was involved in the killing of two militiamen and a soldier, as well as the wounding of another militia under the Army's 75th Infantry Battalion, on Nov. 6, 2017, in Barangay San Isidro, Lianga.
