Despite being declared a 'special non-working holiday' by the Malacanang in celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene, 'no work, no pay' has been implemented in Manila for employees.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) clarified that under the holiday pay rules, the 'no work, no pay' policy is implemented unless the company has different practice or collective bargaining agreement (CBA) which will still compensate workers on special holidays.
Employees who will report to work in the city of Manila on January 9 are entitled to an additional 30% on their daily rate on the first eight hours at work, while an additional 30% will be added to the hourly rate when the worker works beyond the first eight hours.
