The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has announced that the 90-day extension period for SIM card registration is final and cannot be extended anymore.
DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy urged those who have not yet registered their SIM cards to take advantage of this final extension, as the law does not allow for further extensions.
"Magrehistro na po kayo. Binigyan na po kayo ng 90 days more to register," he said.
"This is the final extension dahil ang batas natin hindi na kami binibigyan ng kapangyarihan upang mag extend pa ulit," he added.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. approved the extension on Tuesday, moving the deadline from April 26 to July 25.
As of April 24, 52.04% of the total subscriber base nationwide, or 87,442,982 SIM cards, have been registered.
Uy emphasized the government's goal to register 70% of the total subscriber base in order to capture legitimate SIM card users.
He assured the public that the telecommunications companies have upgraded their systems, making it easy for people to register.
The secretary also mentioned that barangay IDs can be used for registration, as some individuals may not possess other government IDs.
