The in-person classes in Batangas, Laguna, and Rizal were suspended on Monday, Oct. 9, due to the health threat of the volcanic smog or vog coming from the Taal Volcano.
In an advisory posted on its official Facebook page, the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) - Calabarzon said the local government units (LGUs) in the following towns in Batangas, Laguna, and Rizal canceled face-to-face classes at all levels in both public and private schools:

In its latest Taal bulletin, the state seismologist reported that Taal Volcano emitted 2,887 tonnes per day of sulfur dioxide along with the upwelling of hot volcanic fluids and vog.
The volcano also discharged a plume that reached 2,400 meters tall before it drifted in a west and southwest direction.
No volcanic earthquake were recorded.
Phivolcs posted a 12-second time-lapse snapshot of the "degassing from the Taal Main Crater and volcanic smog or vog formation" that was taken from 5:45 AM to 11:42 AM on Sunday, Oct. 8.
Taal volcano remained under Alert Level 1 which means it is exhibiting a low level of volcanic unrest.
