Basketball player JR Quiñahan has had a rough few days after being released from the NLEX team due to violations of the Players’ Uniform Contract (UPC).
"The NLEX Road Warriors have decided to terminate the remaining contract of Joseph Ronald 'J. R.' Quiñahan," the team said in an official statement.
The termination came after a thorough investigation by NLEX management, which revealed that Quinahan had committed several infractions of his contract.
"Following a thorough investigation, it was found that Quiñahan had committed several infractions of his Uniform Players’ Contract, including, among others, playing in unsanctioned games without seeking clearance from NLEX management and the Philippine Basketball Association," it read.
Additionally, he was fined a total of P70,000 by the league for participating in an unsanctioned game and for being involved in an endgame brawl.
As a result, the 38-year-old player stands to lose P3.3 million based on his monthly maximum salary of P420,000.
