The National Food Authority (NFA) council has set a buying price for dry and fresh rice grains, President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. disclosed on Monday, September 18.
In a video statement, he said the buying price adjustment was agreed upon during his meeting with members of the NFA council.
"Nagtawag ako ng meeting ng NFA Council para tingnan ang paanong puwedeng gawin para ang presyo ng pambili ng NFA sa palay, ‘yung wet at saka ‘yung dry, ay kailangan nating tingnan dahil nagbago na ang sitwasyon,” Marcos, who concurrently sits as NFA Council president and Agriculture secretary, said.

He said they decided to set the buying price of dry rice grain from ₱19 to ₱23 per kilogram.
On the other hand, the buying price of wet rice grain will be from ₱16 to ₱19 per kilo.
"Iyon ang aming ginagawa nang masiguro na makapagbigay naman ng magagandang hanapbuhay sa ating mga magsasaka. Kaya't mabuti maganda naman ang production cost ng mga farmers ngayon nasa 14, 15. So mayroon na silang pagkikitaan," Marcos said.
The President added that the new buying prices for rice grain and the imposed rice price cap will both stablized the high prices of retail rice.
Last September 1, the President issued Executive Order No. 39 imposing price ceilings on regular milled rice and well-milled rice amidst surging prices of rice in local markets.
