A newly-elected female Barangay Kagawad was shot dead while inside a barangay hall in Brgy. 37, Pasay City on Monday afternoon, Nov. 6.

According to the initial report from the Pasay City Police Station (CPS), the victim was identified as Lina Camacho, 58, who was shot by a riding in tandem at about 5:35 PM.

"Based on the CCTV footage from the said Barangay, it appears that suspects while on board in a motorcycle arrived in front of Barangay and the back rider alighted and fired 2 shots hitting the victim’s neck," the Pasay CPS said.

Camacho was rushed to Adventist Medical Center for immediate medical treatment but was declared dead at about 8:16 PM.

The Pasay Police said one of the two suspects was caught after their motorcycle bumped with another motorist, causing them to fall on the ground.

"Fortunately, while the operatives of SDEU [Station Drug Enforcement Unit] of this police station who were present in the area were alerted, thus they responded and run after the fleeing suspects, as a result one of the suspect’s was apprehended," the Pasay CPS added.

The caught suspect was identified as Vladimer Catuba, a 27-year-old resident of Brgy. 187, Sto. Niño, Pasay City, and the driver of the motorcycle.
